Short opinions of Globalization in General
Ben: Creates greater equality and encourages tolerance, but must be encouraged with caution, because globalizing too quick can lead to unwanted results.
Madison: Agrees with Ben
Garret: Good for the world, because it spreads new technology and intertwines our economies, promoting peaceful relations.
Miller: Good for some, bad for others.
Ashleigh: Agrees with Miller
Group Opinion Of Globalization for Egypt
Collectively: Bad for existing political structure, good for the total population in the long run. The process of globalization doesn't mesh well with places experiencing social and political upheaval, though that may or may not be a symptom in and of itself of the encroachment of globalization.
It's a difficult situation when you consider Egypt's history with globalization. It is important to note that the effects of globalization in Egypt has led to disastrous occurrences. For example, the Islamic jihadist movement was created by an Egyptian, Sayyid Qutb after he visited America for school. He was so appalled by American's sex-based culture, racism and materialism that he created the Muslim Brotherhood and pioneered the ideas that are behind modern terrorist organizations and can be directly linked to Al-Qaeda and Isis. This is evidence to the fact that because so many different places are at different points in their social progress, that globalization has potential to create conflict between societies, which can cause serious damage to the world for long periods of time.
There is no doubt that great things can come from globalization and globalization in Egypt. Egypt has numerous human rights abuses such as an alarming 91.1 percent rate of female genital mutilation in women aged 15-79 (UNFPA) many of which could be lessened by the effects of globalization.
